Dedicated to the unknown number of lives lost and the survivors that will never forget them

About VenezuelaID

VenezuelaID was created by the aftershock of not knowing the true magnitude of the devastation caused by the 7.2 magnitude and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes in Venezuela on June 24, the true scale of which remains unknown with damages amplified by media censorship and the obstruction of relief efforts.

It is a database of primary and secondary sources devoted to documenting the true scale of the devastation in Venezuela and to support the survivors as they begin the long work of recovery, rebuilding, and healing.

Its goals are to:

  • Collect and broadcast primary source documents, raw footage, and testimonials not yet in the public domain
  • Build a reciprocal relationship with news media and citizen journalists, creating a shared repository of source material to support ongoing coverage
  • Give survivors a platform to tell their stories and mourn their loved ones
  • Provide a direct pipeline to grassroots recovery efforts on the ground

VenezuelaID is a volunteer, grassroots initiative launched by an American citizen heartbroken by what they did not know and were not allowed to see. Please support this initiative by contributing source material to add to the database, pressing government entities to release information that belongs in the public domain, donating directly to the grassroots organizations doing the boots-on-the-ground work, and, most importantly, caring.
